| <b>Safiq Rahim</b> confirms Johor move | World News: the latest local <b>...</b> Posted: 01 Nov 2012 12:11 AM PDT Malaysia captain Safiq Rahim has confirmed he will join ambitious Malaysia Super League outfit Johor when his contract with Selangor expires at the end of the month. By ESPNSTAR.com staff Safiq is currently on international duty with Harimau Malaya as they prepare for the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup, but his future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks. Nonetheless, the 25-year-old has since confirmed he will be joining Johor, who look set to be a real powerhouse in 2013 as they are reportedly close to signing a plethora of Malaysia internationals, including Aidil Zafuan, Zaquan Adha, Azmi Muslim and Muslim Ahmad, as well as striker Dani Guiza, who was part of the Spain squad that won Euro 2008. "I am still waiting for my contract with Selangor to end on November 30 before I officially sign for Johor," he told Bernama. Safiq also confirmed he will be signing a one-year contract with an option for another 12-month extension, as he wants to keep his options open in case an offer from a club outside the region comes his way. "I have informed the Johor FA that my contract will be 'one plus one' because if I get an offer from a club outside Southeast Asia in 2014, I will join them," he added. Safiq is currently regarded as one of the best playmakers in the region and won the Super League twice with the Red Giants in 2009 and 2010. |

KETUA pasukan Selangor Safiq Rahim mengesahkan bahawa beliau akan menyarung jersi Johor dalam saingan Liga Malaysia pada musim depan. Safiq yang juga ketua pasukan kebangsaan berkata hasrat beliau ke Johor mendapat restu daripada keluarga serta majikan, Persatuan Bola Sepak Selangor (FAS) yang bersetuju melepaskannya. "Saya masih menunggu kontrak saya bersama FAS yang bakal berakhir pada 30 Nov ini sebelum menandatangani kontrak bersama Johor. "Saya sudah maklumkan kepada PBNJ (Persatuan Bola Sepak Negeri Johor) bahawa kontrak saya adalah 1+1 (setahun dan dilanjutkan setahun) kerana jika saya mendapat tawaran daripada kelab luar Asean pada 2014, saya akan menyertai pasukan tersebut," katanya di sini. Selain Safiq, pasukan Johor yang dahulunya dikenali sebagai Johor FC hampir pasti mendapat khidmat tiga pemain Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) iaitu pasangan kembar Mohd Aidil Zafuan dan Mohd Zaquan Adha Abdul Razak serta Mohd Azmi Muslim serta bekas pemain Terengganu, Mohd Muslim Ahmad. – BERNAMA Related postscoded by nessus |
